EHE Course Assurance Process – Updated

EHE’s new Course Assurance Process replaced the Quality Matters review process on 10/1/2023.

All distance learning (DL) and distance enhanced (DH) courses will undergo the EHE Course Assurance process prior to beginning the EHE curricular review process.

Why is there a Course Assurance?

EHE’s Course Assurance process meets OSU’s requirements covered in Higher Learning Commission accreditation expectations and reporting to the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Further, this process provides a consistent way for curricular reviews conducted by the EHE Curriculum Committee.

Beyond accreditation standards, EHE’s Course Assurance Process provides an effective way for faculty to evaluate areas such as course structure, community development, assessments, technology, and accessibility – all through the lens of digital pedagogy.

EHE Course Assurance Process: Outline

1. Syllabus Template

Prepare your syllabus using the most recent version of the EHE Distance Learning Syllabus Template

This template is required for all distance courses (DL, DH, HY) in EHE and contains all necessary sections and policies included in the EHE curricular review process. Using the current version of the template is required, to capture the most up-to-date policies.

2. Self-Review

Instructors will complete a structured self-review, making changes or adjustments to their syllabus along the way.

Download and complete the Distance Course Faculty Self-Review form before moving on to step 3.

3. Submit for Course Assurance Review

Following steps 1 and 2 above, submit completed self-review form and and updated syllabus. EHE’s Course Assurance reviewers will review your documents and provide any feedback. You will also have an opportunity to meet with a reviewer to expedite the process, if you choose!

Submit for review

  2. Update Syllabus from reviewer feedback or meeting with instructional design team
