EHE Distance Programs, Endorsements, and Certificates Process

Distance learning (DL) and Distance Enhanced (DH) certificates, endorsements, and programs courses will be supported by EHE’s Director of Digital Education and Innovation in Teaching and Learning. If you have questions about the process or need assistance, please contact the Director, Dr. Detra Price-Dennis at price-dennis.1@osu.edu. 

Once faculty receive approval from their section and department level, they will schedule a meeting with the Director of Digital Education and Innovation in Teaching and Learning about their idea for a DL/DH certificate, endorsement, or program. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss information that will be required to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI). The MOU is required for all DL/DH certificates and programs.   

Outline of Process:

  1. Propose idea to Section and Department Chair for approval.  
  2. Complete the DL/DH Endorsements, Certificates, and Programs submission form and submit it with supporting documents. The completed submission will be sent to the Director of Digital Education and Innovation in Teaching and Learning for review.
  3. Book a consultation meeting with the Director of Digital Education and Innovation in Teaching and Learning. Book consultation meeting.
  4. The Director of Digital Education and Innovation in Teaching and Learning will arrange a meeting with you (including your team) and OTDI to discuss the MOU, instructional design process, marketing, and to answer your questions.  
  5. Complete the MOU.
  6. Create proposal and move it through process outlined by your department and college curriculum committee for approval.
  7. Collaborate with OTDI’s instructional design team to develop your DL/DH certificate/program.
  8. Wait on final approval from the university before launching marketing/recruiting plan.

Anticipated Timeframe:
Endorsements & Certificates: 6-9 months
Programs: 12-18 months
