EHE Distance Programs, Endorsements, and Certificates Process

Distance learning (DL) and Distance Enhanced (DH) certificates, endorsements, and programs courses will be supported by EHE’s Director of Digital Education and Innovation in Teaching and Learning. If you have questions about the process or need assistance, please contact the Director, Dr. Detra Price at price.151@osu.edu.

Once faculty receive approval from their section and department level, they will complete an online submission form and then meet with the Director of Digital Education and Innovation in Teaching and Learning about their idea for a DL/DH certificate, endorsement, or program.

Outline of Process:

  1. Propose idea to your Program/Section and Department Chair for approval.
  2. Complete the DL/DH Endorsements, Certificates, and Programs submission form and submit it with supporting documents.
  3. CDLI will contact you to set up an In-take meeting.
  4. If the program is a department priority, CDLI will request a market analysis from Ohio State Online (OSO). If the program is not a department priority, alternative options will be discussed.
  5. You (and your team) will be invited to meet with CDLI, Ohio State Online, and your department leadership to discuss the market report and determine next steps.
  6. CDLI will request a Proforma. If the Proforma is positive, you can move forward with your proposal.
  7. Create proposal and move it through process outlined by your department and college curriculum committee for approval.
  8. Collaborate with OSO’s instructional design team to develop your DL/DH certificate/program.
  9. Wait on final approval from the university before launching marketing/recruiting plan.

Anticipated Timeframe:
Endorsements & Certificates: 6-9 months
Programs: 12-18 months
