Best Practices

Level 1: Beginner

  1. Consistent & structured design: Organize course content in a clear and consistent manner to provide a clear pathway and learning arc
  2. Scaffolding & chunking: Chunk and scaffold larger concepts into smaller, more manageable components to avoid cognitive overload and guide information processing
  3. Active learning strategies: Incorporate opportunities for learners to actively participate in the acquisition of new knowledge

Level 2: Advanced

  1. Purposeful markers: Utilize visual or textual cues as signposts that emphasize key concepts, ideas, or actions
  2. Multimodal delivery: Deliver content through a variety of formats to support accessible and inclusive practices
  3. Autonomy & choice: Provide opportunities for students to choose what, how, and/or when to engage with learning materials
