Best Practices

Level 1: Beginner

  1. Authentic & relevant assessment: Opportunities to connect learning to real-world experiences and personal interests
  2. Varied assignment types: Opportunities for students to demonstrate learning in different ways
  3. Explicit & transparent guidelines: Highlight the purpose and skills met by the task and clearly define steps and evaluation criteria

Level 2: Advanced

  1. Problem-based learning: Opportunities to develop transferable skills applicable to a variety of workplace environments
  2. Self-assessment opportunities: Develop metacognitive skills and practices
  3. Personalized learning supports: Offer supplemental materials or personal supports to help students achieve learning objectives
